Rethinking furniture
Infrastructured Furniture is a project about how to evolve domestic spaces making them more flexible by transferring some of infrastructure that traditionally lives in the building to the furniture. Detaching the infrastructure from the building, allow to remove rigidity and therefore opens a whole new set of space possibilities of how to deal with space flexibility, reversibility, how to crossover uses within buildings and how we use and inhabit buildings.
This Alcove system allows different combinations for sleeping and room related activities. can be closed as independent space from the room. By being mounted on rubber wheels, it can be moved througout the space. Is designed to provide acoustic insulation and natural ventilation. It includes embedded power and heating; can be customized with different materials, colours and acoustic properties. Allowing to plug different appendix to have power sockets, wireless chargers, light, sound, desk or storage space. The system can be plugged to the existing building to a power socket, the magnetic cappacitor connector under the floor finish or use the wireless charger with batteries.
